Prohibited & Restricted Activities

Northsec accounts may only be used for lawful purposes consistent with the activity you declared during onboarding. The following activities are not permitted and will lead to refusal, suspension or closure of an account.

Prohibited activities

  • Any activity that is illegal in the customer's country or in the United Kingdom
  • Money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions evasion or tax evasion
  • Customers, counterparties or beneficial owners in sanctioned jurisdictions
  • Unlicensed financial services, shell banks and unregistered money service businesses
  • Ponzi, pyramid, matrix and high-yield investment schemes
  • Unlicensed gambling, betting, lotteries and casino operations
  • Weapons, ammunition, explosives and military or dual-use goods
  • Narcotics, controlled substances, precursor chemicals and drug paraphernalia
  • Adult content and services involving minors or non-consenting persons
  • Human trafficking, forced labour and prostitution services
  • Counterfeit goods, pirated media and infringement of intellectual property
  • Trade in protected wildlife, ivory and endangered species
  • Unlicensed pharmaceuticals, steroids and unapproved medical devices
  • Fraud, phishing, malware, hacking tools and stolen data or credentials
  • Mixers, tumblers and other services designed to obscure the origin of digital assets
  • Unregistered token sales, unlicensed exchanges and investment products sold to the public
  • Debt collection, credit repair and advance-fee lending services
  • Multi-level marketing and unsolicited telemarketing or spam operations
  • Ransom, extortion or bribery payments
  • Use of an account on behalf of an undisclosed third party

Restricted activities

Some activities may be accepted only after additional review and evidence of the required licences, for example regulated gambling operators, licensed crypto-asset businesses, precious metals dealers, charities and non-profits, travel agencies and payment facilitators. Contact us before signing up if your business falls into one of these categories.

Consequences of breach

If we identify prohibited use we may block transactions, freeze the balance, terminate the account and report the matter to the relevant authorities and to our payment partners. Fees already incurred are not refunded where an account is closed for breach of this policy.
